Bunny Hop: 1992

Click to see larger picture of Etruscan Vase Bunny HopWell after taking Pino’s course I was inspired to do other things as well. Bunny Hop and In a Rut were big pieces that I made with the help of the other members of the studio. On these large (and other rather stupidly large) pieces, anyone that came through the door would be pressed into service. Morna Tudor, Gary Bolt, Jeff Burnett, Joanne Andrighetti, Malcolm Macfadyen, Brock Craig, Rafael, and I am sure others that I don’t recall off-hand, helped me with these and other pieces.

I have only the one shot at it because I cannot reheat the image too much with out distorting the vase.

These pieces were inspired by the pottery of the Etruscans, the pre-Roman tribes of central Italy about 2500 years ago. The artisans of the time were often embellished their work with some rather "earthy" images. I was just being silly when I made "In a Rut".

Bunny Hop was accepted into the Corning New Glass Review 14 in 1993, an international survey that receives thousands of entries each year and selects what they see as the top 100 for that year.
