The Vancouver glass artist Graham Scott asked me to help him with a project he was doing for a downtown office. He needed a number of lozenge-shaped glass vessels made and he wanted them fairly consistent. I told him how to make a little plywood mold and away we went. I think I made a dozen or so for him. But I was really attracted to the shape, so I played with it. I find that most design is just doodling (either on paper or in glass) with a purpose.

Eventually the "Gamespieces" came into being.

Ok "the name thing" I don’t really see them as individuals. I enjoy chess so I was thinking of them as some sort of games piece like a pawn or a bishop. The game is not chess I don’t really know what the game is, but it does have a lot of pieces.
